The art of letter writing is disappearing with the computer age and with it, beautiful stationery. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I present to you artwork on hotel stationery, gathered from travels around the world, .... and a little bit more.
Please forgive me But this work must be seen! Photographer Richard Mosse has taken his 16mm camera outfitted with infared lenses into the war-torn Congo. The beauty is surreal, the hell is not. I was stunned by the numbers of atrocities and realities that are kept from those of us in some sort of daily bubble. The lenses make everything green into pink. It’s mesmerizing. All of the amazing work can be viewed at The Jack Shainman Gallery in New York City. Wow….. Go!
If you can’t travel, then at least dream like you do. I love paper from far away places. It makes me want to write to my love, tell a story, or draw a picture. My cousin sent me this stationery and matching envelope from a hotel in Rome. I think it’s really pretty.
